The construction of the consular road that runs along the Adriatic coast is linked to the figure of Popilio Lenate, consul in 132 BC, the year in which Popilia was probably opened. The route departed from the Aemilia in Celle di Rimini, to go close to the coastal strip, where it bordered a territory dotted with rural villas dedicated to production. A few miles from Ravenna, the military port of Classe also played an important role as a crossroads, since on the Via Popilia at this point converged the route coming from Forlimpopoli and, starting from the Byzantine era, the Via del Dismano. We will cycle along this ancient Roman road, passing through municipalities and districts bordering the city of Rimini, Rivabella, Mulino Carlotti, Orsoleto, Fornace, Borgonuovo until we arrive in Bordonchio from where we will return on the Riviera through Igea Marina, Bellaria, San Mauro Mare, Gatteo Mare and we will arrive at the Leonardesco port of Cesenatico. Return to Rimini through secondary roads.
