San Leo in freedom. Perched on a rocky outcrop in a strategic position overlooking the entire Valmarecchia, San Leo has always been a disputed town between Malatesta and the Montefeltro. In 1441 it was Duke Federico who conquered it and redesigned the fortress as we see it today, thanks to the work of Francesco di Giorgio Martini.
